In Mexico, a 25-year-old teenager named Martin fell into a ditch when the floor collapsed while he was sleeping at home. While the young man was rescued with injuries by his family, it turned out that the pit was an underground tunnel dug by drug traffickers.
In the investigation made by the authorities, it was announced that the tunnel poses a danger to at least 8 houses in the vicinity.
FALL INTO 3 METERS PIT
In the city of Culiacan, located in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, a 25-year-old person named Martin fell into a pit opened as a result of the collapse of the floor while he was sleeping on the sofa in his home at night. Martin, who was pulled out of the approximately 3-meter pit by his family, escaped with minor injuries.
OPENED BY DRUG TRAFFERS
The young man’s family sought help from the municipal authorities because of the hole dug in the floor of their house. The authorities determined that the pit was formed as a result of the collapse of an underground tunnel discovered in 2011 and opened by criminal gangs engaged in drug smuggling, and declared that the tunnel poses a danger to at least 8 houses in the vicinity.
Sinaloa State Public Works Minister Jose Luis Zavala also came to the region to investigate the incident. Minister Zavala stated that a technical team will be sent to inspect the tunnel as soon as possible, and that the pit and tunnel will be filled to prevent further damage to the surrounding houses.
