Dane Willson of Royal LePage RE Wood Realty (Tillsonburg) is the 2022 recipient of the Realtors Care Award for the Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and Area Association of Realtors (WITAAR).
This is the eighth year the local Realtor Care has been awarded, but the first since Oxford’s real estate boards amalgamated in 2022 to form WITAAR. The presentation was made at the Elm Hurst Inn on Dec. 7.
“Dane Willson is a very worthy recipient of this award,” said WITAAR president Anthony Montanaro in a media release. “He is diligent in his ongoing support to better the lives of individuals in the community of Tillsonburg and surrounding areas. Dane exemplifies those realtors who have made long-term contributions to the communities in which they live. They help to promote public awareness that realtors are committed to their communities and care deeply enough to be actively involved.
“It is amazing to see the diverse ways our realtors give back, the leadership they take, and the good example they set for others,” said Montanaro.
Willson is the president of the Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club, vice-president of the Tillsonburg Curling Club, past-president of the King Hiram Masonic Lodge, and a member of Tillsonburg’s Affordable and Attainable Housing Committee and the Economic Development Advisory Committee. He also volunteers throughout the year for various charitable fundraisers and organizations including the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“I’m honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the Realtors Care Award for the newly formed WITAAR,” said Willson. “As a realtor, being involved in our communities and trying to make them the best they can be comes as second nature from a career focused on helping clients achieve a variety of goals.”
As part of the Realtors Care Award, WITAAR makes a $500 donation to the recipient’s charity of choice. Willson Chose Tillsonburg’s Helping Hand Food Bank.
“The Helping Hand Food Bank, over their decades of work in Tillsonburg, sadly needs more support than ever due to ever increasing needs,” said Willson. “Their dedicated group of volunteers and staff (are relocating) to a new, larger facility to meet this need and as such could use this assistance more than ever.”
