Lawyer Lindsey Anderson, who works with her dad Jeff Wesley, a lawyer and long-time former municipal politician, admits being surprised when a member of McGillivray’s team reached out to her about the trusted professionals program.

She was told the program is in her infancy and they are trying to expand it outside the Greater Toronto Area “into what they deem as higher growth areas of Ontario.”

Anderson was told McGillivray’s team did research looking into the firm’s online presence, Google reviews, and services offered, along with a due diligence check.

“Before this, I didn’t even know about the program,” she said. “So, it was a great opportunity.”

The process including going to Toronto to film some videos featuring the Anderson Law Group, which has offices in Wallaceburg and Chatham, joining McGillivray trusted professionals and being interviewed by McGillivray.

Anderson hopes the benefit from this kind of exposure is two-fold.

“It gives us an opportunity to expand our reach and let people, even outside Chatham-Kent, know that we’re here and we’re ready to do business with them,” she said.

Anderson hopes this exposure also shines a spotlight on Chatham-Kent as being a growth area in the province.

“It does do good things for us,” said Wesley.

He noted the firm already has clients from outside of Chatham-Kent.

“Lindsey’s working with some (out-of-town people) on a subdivision and there’s a lot of people from out to town buying properties, selling from other areas and coming here,” Wesley said.

He added the increased exposure for the community is good for local realtors and businesses.

The process of becoming part of the McGillivray trusted professionals program also came with some fun and excitement, especially filming videos.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

“It seemed fairly glamorous. . . going to a professional studio in Toronto and they have very professional team there,” Anderson said.

Wesley laughed as he recalled telling McGillivray, “You really are as advertised. . . you’re just like you are on TV.”

He added, McGillivray said, “Well, I am playing myself.”

Lawyer Jocelyn Kraayenbrink, who specializes in estates, admits it is not her “favorite thing to be in the spotlight.”

However, she found it an enjoyable experience.

“I really liked working with Scott and his staff are very professional,” Kraayenbrink said.

Word already is getting out about the local law firm’s celebrity connection.

Anderson said she was at the holiday market in Wallaceburg last week and a few people stopped her and commented, “I see you’re with Scott from HGTV.”
