Ah! You arrive just as I am finishing a count: that of the number of episodes where the IPCC has been mentioned…

As surprising as it may seem, we have never given a precise definition to store in the cupboard of La Loupe…

So I’m going to take advantage of this introduction to remind you what it is. The IPCC is the “Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.” It is scientists from all over the world who, under the aegis of the UN, assess climate change, its causes, its consequences and also provide avenues for mitigating and adapting to it…

Well, now you can forget this definition… Because this year the IPCC submitted its last report. And after 8 years, 6 syntheses, and thousands of pages, the experts are wondering about the interest of continuing to publish before their next cycle of work… in 2030…

According to them, the time is no longer for analysis, but for action.

And this is where a difficulty arises: how do we transpose the planetary knowledge of the IPCC to a local level? How can regions, departments and cities apply its recommendations and adapt them to their particular territorial features?

In this episode of La Loupe, we introduce you to the local IPCCs… essential tools to act against global warming, but which still lack visibility and are also struggling to organize themselves.
