The opening sequence of the match was from Liverpool’s display, and Luis Diaz gave the visitors the lead after 23 minutes of play. Manchester United did not manage a single shot in the first half, while Liverpool shot 15 times.
The second half started darkly for the visitors. Bruno Fernandes was able to shoot the equalizer from almost half the field, when an inexperienced Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah served an opening with his stray pass.
Liverpool continued to waste goal posts, which United countered in the 67th minute of the game: Kobbie Mainoo made it 2-1 with a spectacular turn shot.
Liverpool’s pursuit paid off just under ten minutes before full time. Aaron Wan-Bissaka poured Harvey Elliott in the penalty area. Settled to draw a comma Mohamed Salah didn’t make a mistake and scored a 2–2 goal.
