The first day of the third Grand Slam tournament, Wimbledon, ended on Monday, July 1. All the favorites have been present so far.

22:15 – The program for Tuesday July 2 at Wimbledon

The second day of the Wimbledon tournament has a great program in store. On the Centre Court, Novak Djokovic will make his appearance in the second rotation before Andy Murray’s possible final match on the London grass. Alexander Zverev and Iga Swiatek will play on court number one. On the French side, there will be eight on the starting line this Tuesday: Quentin Halys, Arthur RinderknechConstant Lestienne, Arthur Fils, Lucas Pouille, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Océane Dodin and finally Caroline Garcia.

22:10 – The French day at Wimbledon

On this first day at Wimbledon, six French players made it to the second round. Arthur Cazaux, Ugo HumbertGaël Monfils and Alexander Muller moved up to the men’s draw, while Varvara Gracheva and Clara Burel moved up to the women’s draw. Adrian Mannarino and Hugo Gaston were eliminated by Monfils and Muller respectively. Luca Van Assche was eliminated from the start, as was Maxime Janvier, who had come out of qualifying. Finally, Diane Parry and Elsa Jacquemot had to logically bow out against Naomi Osaka and Sloane Stephens.

22:05 – Wimbledon day summary

So that’s it for today’s matches at Wimbledon. In the men’s draw, the favourites all showed up, with Jannik Sinner, Carlos AlcarazCasper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev all won, more or less easily, not to mention Grigor Dimitrov. In the women’s draw, Coco Gauff, Maria Sakkari, Jasmine Paolini and Maddison Keys got their fortnight off to a good start, unlike Qinwen Zheng (n°8).

22:00 – Shelton vs. Bellucci match interrupted

The match between Ben Shelton and Mattia Bellucci has just been interrupted after the end of the third set. The Italian qualifier leads two sets to one against the American, seeded number 14 (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).

21:56 – It goes through for the Serbian Kecmanovic

Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic defeated Indian Sumit Nagal in the first round of Wimbledon (6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 2 hours 38 minutes of play).

21:50 – Ben Shelton with his back to the wall

Ben Shelton has had a complicated start to the competition against Italian qualifier Mattia Bellucci. The American, seeded number 14 and semi-finalist at the US Open last year, is now down two sets to one (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).

21:46 – Two games still in progress

With Mirra Andreeva out, there are now no matches in progress in the women’s draw. In the men’s draw, only two matches are still in progress. Kecmanovic is close to victory against Nagal while Ben Shelton is still battling against Mattia Bellucci.

21:42 – Mirra Andreeva eliminated from the start

Surprise semi-finalist at Roland-Garros, the young Russian player Mirra Andreeva will not get past the first round at Wimbledon. She lost in three sets in her first match against the Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova, also aged 17 (6-1, 3-6, 2-6).

21:36 – Sinner qualifies for the second round

Jannik Sinner pulls it off! Sometimes pushed around by Yannick Hanfmann, the Italian world number one eliminates the German in four sets (6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3) in just under three hours of play.

21:28 – Sinner one game away from qualifying

Jannik Sinner remains serious in this end of the match and now leads 5-2 in this fourth set. Hanfmann will serve but the Italian is only one game away from qualifying.

21:24 – Linda Noskova qualified

Seeded number 26 in the tournament, Czech player Linda Noskova has just qualified for the second round by beating Italian Sara Errani (7-6, 6-1).

21:22 – Sinner pulls away in the fourth round

Jannik Sinner has regained control of the match against Yannick Hanfmann and now leads 4-1 in the fourth set against the German. Qualification is getting closer…

21:20 – Mirra Andreeva in difficulty

Having easily won the first set 6-1, Mirra Andreeva lost her footing against the Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova and found herself caught up in a third set, where she was trailing (6-1, 3-6, 0-2).

21:15 – Paula Badosa qualified

Spain’s Paula Badosa needed just 1 hour and 21 minutes to beat Czech Muchova (6-3, 6-2) and qualify for the second round at Wimbledon. There are only two matches left in the women’s draw at the moment and three in the men’s draw.

21:13 – Tommy Paul passes

Seeded number 12, Tommy Paul lost a set against Pedro Martinez (6-2, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3) but he qualifies for the second round of Wimbledon. Last year, the American had lost in the third round.
