17:44 – A fifth trinket for Marchand
Of course the most anticipated moment of this last session will be the final of the 4x100m medley relay. The French, who yesterday morning achieved the best time of the teams involved in the semi-finals in 3’31”62, will be among the favorites for the gold medal. Léon Marchand (who will be on the breaststroke) will aim for a fifth medal at the Olympics. He will be accompanied by N’Doye Brouard (backstroke), Grousset (butterfly) and Manaudou (freestyle)
17:37 – Second final for Damien Joly
Damien Joly, one of the two Frenchmen in the 1500m final, is competing in his second Olympic final this evening after the one in Rio 8 years ago. It’s crazy. The crowd supported me throughout the race (in the semi-finals), I did my best time at 32 years old. Flo (Manaudou) set an example for me on his 50, it’s great. I hung on to Greg (the Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri) who was next to me until the end, that meant it was going fast. I didn’t have a time in mind, the goal was the final. Eight years later, here I am again, and at home, it’s just great! »
