The swimming evening started well for the French with Florent Manaudou and Maxime Grousset making it to the 50m final.

- Florent Manaudou and Maxime Grousset had a date with the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle tonight. 16th time in the series, Maxime Grousset finished 3rd in his semi-final in 21”60 and qualified for the final. For his part, Florent Manaudou had a hard time, but qualified with the 8th time in 21”64.
- In the 200m backstroke final, Mewen Tomac finished in 4th place, just shy of the bronze medal. Léon Marchand will be in the pool again for the 200m medley semi-finals, where he is once again the big favourite. We will also follow the 200m backstroke semi-finals with Emma Terebo and Pauline Mahieu at 9:19pm.

20:59 – McEvoy and Proud impressive
The second semi-final was won by the British Proud in 21’38”, tied with the Australian McEvoy. Deplano (3rd, Italy), Gkolomeev (4th, Greece) are also qualified, as is Florent Manaudou.
20:57 – Not the race we were hoping for
A little tense, Florent Manaudou admitted to France 2 that he has not been well since his semi-final “I’ve been struggling a bit since this morning, a lot of energy spent. But it’s my fourth final and I know a swimmer who was Olympic champion in lane number 8”

A laborious race for Florent Manaudou. He finished fifth in 21’64 but qualified as 8th best time. The two Frenchmen are in the final
20:52 – Around Manuadou
Florent Manaudou will be in lane 5 alongside British Proud. The London Olympic champion will probably have to swim a little better than this morning (21’54) to get through to the final.
20:48 – Grousset third!
Maxime Grousset finished third in the first semi-final. A great performance from the Frenchman who can hope to qualify for the final with his time of 21’60 behind Crooks 21’543 and Dressel in 21’58
20:46 – Tomac gave it his all
Fifth in the last world championships, the Frenchman took a nice fourth place by achieving a good last 50 meters. Even if the fourth place, synonymous with the chocolate medal, is often very frustrating.

The Frenchman finished fourth in this final behind Kos (Hungary, 1’54″26), Christou (Greece) and Mityukov (Switzerland). The tricolor completed the 200 meters in 1’55”38

Mewen Tomac is in the 200m backstroke grand final. The French swimmer is in lane 1 and will have a hard time aiming for a medal.
20:35 – McIntosh wins his second title
With an Olympic record, Summer McIntosh won this 200m butterfly final in 2’03”03. She beat the American Smith 2’03″84 and the Chinese Zhang 2’05”09. It is the second title for the Canadian swimmer who has already taken gold in 400m medley
20:31 – 200m butterfly, first race
The first race of the evening will be the women’s 200m butterfly final. Two big favorites for this race are Canadian McIntosh and American Smith. Australian Dekkers could play the spoilsport.
20:22 – Australia leads medal standings
In swimming after 5 days, Australia leads the medal standings with 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze. The United States are second with 17 medals but only three Gold, they are ahead of France 3 Gold and one Silver.

Maxime Grousset’s sister Emma is almost as famous as her brother. She was elected Miss New Caledonia 2023
20:07 – Tomac for a feat
Mewen Tomac will be the only French swimmer in the final tonight. He will take part in the big race of the evening, the 200m backstroke. The Frenchman who will be in lane number 1 will have a lot to do in front of the great specialists of the distance like the Hungarian Kos, the Swiss Mityukov and the South African Koetze. A podium will already be an achievement for the kid from Evreux who will start his race at 8:38 p.m.
When are the Olympic swimming events?
The swimming events will begin on Saturday, July 27, with the first medals awarded in the evening, with the finals of the 400 meters and the 4x100m freestyle. The events will last nine days, until Sunday, August 4.
Where do the tests take place?
The pool swimming events will take place at the Paris Défense Arena in Nanterre. The open water swimming will take place in the Seine, with a finish at the Pont Alexandre III. Finally, diving, water polo and artistic swimming will be at the Aquatique centre in Saint-Denis.
