LIVE Swimming at the 2024 Olympics 4th gold medal for

22:10 – Good evening to all!

Thank you for following this great evening with us. See you tomorrow with the finals of Grousset (100m butterfly) and Kirpichnikova (800 meters). Have a great evening!

21:54 – Summary of the evening

They were both expected, and they answered the call. Florent Manaudou (3rd in the 50m freestyle) and Léon Marchand (First in the 200m medley) went to get the expected Olympic medal. Bronze for Florent and Gold for Léon. If Marchand’s coronation was almost expected, after his demonstration in the previous races, Manaudou’s third place is a real surprise. The former Olympic champion was able to pick up the hundredths needed to win his fourth medal over the distance in four different games. With 20’56”, he was beaten by McEvoy (Australia) and Proud (Great Britain)

Marchand, himself, continues to write his history by stringing together extraordinary performances in different events. He dominated his 200m medley final, coming close to Ryan Lochte’s world record (1’54”06 against 1’54”00 for the American). Scott (Great Britain) and Wang (China), who completed the podium, could hardly have hoped for better.

In the 100m butterfly, Maxime Grousset brilliantly won his semi-final in 50’41, but the adversity will clearly go up a notch tomorrow in the final with 3 or 4 potential favorites for Gold. If Clément Secchi left a good impression by finishing fifth in his semi (100m butterfly), Charlotte Bonnet was far from the mark. The former Olympic medalist finished last in her 200m medley semi-final.

The crowd at the Paris Défense Arena also witnessed the second victory of Australian Kaylee Mckeown, who won the 200m backstroke a few days after dominating the 100m backstroke.

21:48 – Marchand enjoys every moment

He doesn’t miss a single word of the Marseillaise, enjoying every moment in front of his amazed audience. Léon Marchand fully enjoys these magical moments that only Olympic champions have the right to.

21:47 – Medal ceremony for the 200m medley

Léon Marchand is invited to receive his fourth Gold Medal at the Défense Paris Arena. The evening will therefore end with a Marseillaise

21:41 – Alex Walsh wins the 2nd half

American Alex Walsh won the second half of the 200m medley in 2’07”45 ahead of Canadian McIntosh and the other American Dougkass. Kaylee McKeown, fifth in this race, still qualified for the final as the 7th best time.

21:36 – Bonnet eighth of his half

Charlotte Bonnet, in great difficulty throughout the race, finished last in her semi-final in 2’12”80

21:30 – 200m medley semi-finals

Honor to the only French swimmer of the evening. Charlotte Bonnet will be in the first half of the 200m medley

21:20 – Australia on fire!

With the successes of Cameron McEvoy (50m freestyle) and Kaylee McKeown (200m backstroke), Australia has taken the lead in the swimming medal standings. 7 titles already for the greatest nation in this sport.

21:17 – Grousset disappointed with his end of race

Maxime Grousset knows what he still needs to improve for the 100m butterfly final “It went well but there was still a bit of lack of control at the end. I have to check that with Michel (Crétien, his trainer)”

21:13 – Milak in control

Kristof Milak wins the second half of the 100m butterfly in 50’38”. The Hungarian is ahead of the Swiss Ponti and the Canadian Kharun

21:10 – Great race from Maxime

Grousset is one hundredth ahead of the Canadian Ljendo (50’42”) and the Dutchman Korstanje (50”59). The New Caledonian was therefore perhaps right to skip the 50m freestyle because Caeleb Dressel who did both races finished fifth.

21:09 – Grousset first in his half

Maxime Grousset finished first in his semi in 50’42. Clément Secchi was sixth in 51’58

21:07 – Time for the 100m butterfly semi-finals

Now it’s time for the 100m butterfly semi-finals. The first semi-final includes Maxime Grousset and Clément Secchi. The 8 best times from the semi-finals qualify for the final.

21:06 – No final for Bonnet

There will be no second Olympic final for Charlotte Bonnet in the 200m medley. Her semi-final was won by Canadian Pickrem in 2’09”65

21:02 – Manaudou also enters history

Florent Manaudou also entered the history of French swimming. He is the first Frenchman to have won four medals in a single event in 4 different editions.
