Renaud Garcia-Fons & Claire Antoninitwo atypical musicians, created this duo several years ago.
This has been enriched over time, each one bringing to it the resonances of his career and his passion for early music, jazz and Eastern music in the broad sense. The result is an innovative vision of the meeting of Eastern and Western music.
Their repertoire, essentially made up of original compositions, offers 19 short pieces which, like miniatures, tell this imaginary itinerary, at the crossroads of these different cultures. Here, the double bass becomes ney, the theorbo becomes setar, the two instruments make their voices heard, the rich combination of their timbres and their modes of play in ever-renewed orchestrations. The pronounced taste for melody, the sway specific to the rhythms of ancient traditions, the modal expression, give this project its original signature.
farangi, the foreigner in Persian, the traveler from the West, wishes to celebrate and share this natural bond, the pleasure of the soul which connects music together, like a universal language speaking to everyone’s heart.
