#Live session of Brieg Guerveno for the release of the album “Vel Ma Vin”

On the occasion of the release of Vel Ma Vin, we receive Brieg Guerveno.

Metamorphosis. It took four albums to Brieg Guerveno to free himself from the rock fury of his past. Four discs needed in the shape of a chrysalis to finally allow it to reveal itself completely. With Vel Ma Vin, Brieg offers a new face that is more folk than ever, more stripped down and above all deeper.

The dark ballads with subtle string arrangements form an endearing ensemble worthy of the tortuous introspective paths of a peaceful Ulver, of a twilight Sigur Ros, bringing to life the vocal harmonies of Anathema’s first 90’s albums. Sung entirely in Breton (like each of his records), Vel Ma Vin promises intimate concerts between dog and wolf, touching the light that shines through the hazy compositions of this modern album filled with a touching sensitivity. Exit at Yotanka.

For this new 8-track LP, Brieg Guerveno has chosen a short format in the tradition of the folk records he loves. Wishing to reduce arrangements to a minimum, he limited his compositions to the use of guitars, a cello, a piano and keyboards (organ, mellotron). This new album is nourished by his folk influences and ambient music. It’s dreamlike music, a waking dream somewhere between the country of Brocéliande where he lives and the polar nights of Tromsø. He entrusted the production of the disc to his musician friend Joachim Blanchet who has accompanied him as a band since 2012. The album was recorded and mixed at Ty an Park in Trebrivan with Bahia el Bacha on the cello, and Stephane Kerihuel on electric guitar who collaborated on the arrangements.
