The World Music team went to the 46th edition of the Angoulême Métis Music Festival, a pioneering and militant festival since 1976!
We set up a home studio at the Alsatian house, on the banks of the Charente.
With the Montreal sour cherry Djely Tapa, Patrick Duvalfestival programmer, Christian Mousset in 1976, founder of the festival, the Brazilian artist Lucas Santanathe Creoles of Lyon Dowdelin and the funky American klezmer of Abraham Inc.with Fred Wesley (trombone JB’s, James Brown, george clinton, Ike & Tina Turner), the klezmer clarinettist David Krakauer and Canadian hip hop pianist and producer Socalled.

“I go to the future with the African heritage“, she summed up at TV5 Monde in early 2019, talking about her album Barokan. For this opus, the Morello cherry from Montreal, with a magnificent and powerful voice, worked with Caleb Rimtobaye, alias Afrotonix, follower of the afrofuturist movement and crowned best African DJ in 2018. The result is a daring production, acclaimed by critics, where the Mandinka traditions and desert blues ripple beautifully in a mesmerizing synthetic breeze.

After Djely Tapathen we join the Bahian artist in the gardens of the Quai Magelis.
O céu é velho há muito tempo is the 8th album of the Brazilian artist. The 9th is expected in January 2023 at No Format.
For his eighth album, Lucas Santtana returns to guitar-voice simplicity, in the spirit of his tropicalist peers (Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé or Caetano Veloso). At a time when everyone is shouting very loudly, when no one wants to listen to the other, he decides to whisper in people’s ears. He seeks the points of intersection between intimacy and the political and social situation, which has deteriorated in Brazil since the election of far-right populist president Jair Bolsonaro. Surrounded by a young creative guard (Jaloo, Linn da Quebrada, DUDA BEAT) and Juçara Marçal (Meta Meta), he offers an album pacified in the face of the profound disruptions of retrograde societies and ideas. He thus delivers a free, airy, poetic record, because “even if times are dark, they will pass, because everything is cyclical. Hence the name of the disc: “the sky is long old”.
