LIVE JO 2024 concern for an Olympic Games star rugby

08:30 – Concerns surrounding Rafael Nadal

The Spaniard threw a spanner in the works for his participation in the Olympic tournament yesterday by canceling his planned training with Alexander Zverev. In the evening, his coach Carlos Moya told the Spanish National Radio that the Majorcan was suffering from a discomfort in the adductor. While he could face Novak Djokovic in the second round in Paris, there are doubts about his participation. We will certainly know more tomorrow, since he must start his doubles tournament with Carlos Alcaraz.

08:15 – Contagious joy from stadium to stadium

When Antoine Dupont and his teammates qualified at the Stade de France, the handball matches were not yet over at the Arena Paris Sud, which did not prevent the supporters of the Blues from singing the qualification

08:02 – Looking back at yesterday’s victories

Hello everyone and welcome to this third day of Paris 2024 Olympic Games. No event today with the opening ceremony of the Games. Yesterday, the Blues of rugby sevens brilliantly eliminated Argentina 26 to 14 and will face South Africa tomorrow for a place in the final of the Olympic tournament.

07/25/24 – 11:42 PM – Good night everyone!

Thank you for following this beautiful day with us. We leave you with this beautiful jewel of Kenza Dali facing Colombia

07/25/24 – 11:37 p.m. – No tests on Friday

Paris 2024 organizers have preserved Olympic traditions by not holding any events on the day of the Opening Ceremony. We will therefore be treated to a great party on the Seine tomorrow night, with competitions resuming Saturday morning.

07/25/24 – 11:18 p.m. – Summary of the day

Laborious, hesitant and lacking confidence at the start of the competition, the French Rugby 7s team was much more attractive and pargmatic today in the quarter-final against Argentina. After showing some great sequences of play early in the afternoon against Fiji, Antoine Dupont’s teammates gave the spectators at the Stade de France a great time during their quarter-final against the Argentinian Pumas. It was mainly thanks to a dream first half that the Blues gave themselves the dream of cherishing the hope of an Olympic medal on Saturday. They scored three tries (Tomi, Grandidier 2 tries) and put the Argentinians on the ropes (21-0 at half-time). Subsequently, the French experienced a slight setback which allowed the Argentinians to come back to 7 points in the second half. Dupont’s last try freed the French team, who will have a date with history in two days, a date in front of more than 80,000 spectators.

The same cannot be said of the French women’s team. Hervé Renard’s players ensured the essentials against Colombia by winning 3 goals to 2, but their excellent first half concluded with a three-goal lead suggested a walk in the park against the South Americans. Despite constant support from the large crowd at Groupa Staidum, they melted in the second half by conceding two goals to their opponent. The three points were preserved thanks to a tough defense in the last quarter of an hour. There will be a lot of things to correct for the rest of the competition for Wendie Renard’s partners.

The French handball team showed solidity in their first match of the tournament against Hungary (31-28). With great success in shooting, the Olympic champions did not push themselves too hard in this first test. After a sluggish start, they showed a lot of authority and control as soon as they took the lead.

We will remember from this first day in the women’s handball, the surprise victories of Korea against Germany (23-22), Brazil against Spain (29-18) and Sweden against Norway (32-28).

Note the fine qualification of the men’s archery team for the quarter-final on Monday against Italy or Kazakhstan.

While the tennis competitions have still not started, this Thursday was quite eventful with the withdrawals of Rune, Murray and Rybakina. Nadal injured his adductor and had to cancel his training. The Spaniard will be able to meet Djokovic in the second round for the 60th duel between the two great champions.
