During the evening news bulletin on a Russian television channel, an employee stood behind the announcer to protest the Russia-Ukraine war.
While the evening news was broadcast on “Perviy Kanal”, one of Russia’s federal television channels, female employee Marina Ovsyannikova appeared in front of the camera behind the announcer reading the news with a banner in her hand.
In the protest action that took place while the announcer was reading the news, Ovsyannikova shouted “Stop the war”, holding a banner reading “No to war. Do not believe in propaganda, stop the war in Ukraine”.
“My father is Ukrainian, my mother is Russian. I have never been an enemy,” Ovsyannikova said in a speech in a video posted on social media.
Ovsyannnikova demanded that “Russia stop its war on Ukraine as soon as possible”.
OVSYANNIKOVA DETENTION
Editor Ovsyannikova was detained by the Russian police. It was learned that the police kept Ovsyannikova at the Ostankino police station.
It was stated that Dmitriy Zakhvatov and Anastasya Kostova, the lawyers of the OVD-Info non-governmental organization that carries out studies in the field of human rights in Russia, assumed the attorneyship of Ovsyannikova. Pavel Chikov, Head of Agora Human Rights Group, another organization operating in Russia, announced that Marina Ovsyannikova was kept at the police station and was not allowed to meet with lawyers.
