PROVINCE OF UTRECHT – The past two days have been warming up a bit, but today the time has finally come: the municipal elections. Those entitled to vote can indicate who they would like to see in the city council for the next four years. In this live blog we will keep you informed of the latest developments.

09.56 am Mayors cast their vote

Mayor Sjors Fröhlich of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden and Mayor Patrick van Domburg of IJsselstein cast their votes this morning. Van Domburg also visits other polling stations in his municipality, Fröhlich calls on Twitter to also go to the polls.

08.38 am Mayor of Amersfoort cycles past all polling stations in the city

In the morning, Mayor Lucas Bolsius of Amersfoort takes a tour of all the polling stations in the city. The route of the city administrator, who cycles through the city on a tandem, can be followed live via the website of the municipality.

07:30 The polling stations are open

All more than 8,800 polling stations in the Netherlands are currently open. Until 9 p.m., all those entitled to vote can cast their vote.

07.13 am Special voting locations in the province

You can vote for municipal elections at a number of special locations in the province. In Utrecht, for example, you can vote at the Railway Museum, Galgenwaard Stadium and the Ulu Mosque. For example, in Zeist you can use your voting pass to go to Hotel Theater Figi and in Amersfoort there is a ballot box in Theater School De Springplank.

07:00 Arrival first two days

It was already possible to vote last Monday and Tuesday. In the municipality of Utrecht, the turnout on Tuesday was 6.8 percent, in Amersfoort it was 12.3 percent. In Veenendaal, 11 percent of those entitled to vote voted early, in Rhenen it was slightly higher at 15 percent.
