Penultimate evening of athletics at the Stade de France this Friday with new finals at the 2024 Olympics.

The essentials

  • Penultimate evening at the Stade de France this Friday evening with new French athletes entered in the final! The women’s and men’s 4x100m relays will try to win an Olympic medal early in the evening. Later, Auriana Lazraq-Khlass will be back with the 800m, the last event of the heptathlon. Finally, Alessia Zarbo and Clément Ducos will be in the running to win a medal in the finals of the 10,000m (W) and the 400m hurdles (M).
  • This Friday morning, the women’s and men’s 4x400m relays qualified for the final by finishing 3rd and 1st in the semi-finals. Remarkable performances for the Blues! In the 800m (M), European champion Gabriel Tual qualified for the final while in the 100m hurdles (F), Cyréna Samba-Mayela reached the final by qualifying on time.

Athletics will take place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis for all events, with the exception of the marathon, which will start from the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, and the 20 kilometre walk, which will start from the Pont d’Iéna.

The selection of the French team for the Olympic Games

The final selection of the list of athletes participating in the athletics events will be published on July 8, 2024 (May 14 for the marathon). However, some athletes have already achieved the Olympic minimums and should be part of the list, which allows a maximum of three athletes per discipline. 50% of the places will be allocated by the minimums, and 50% via the world ranking.
