I keep a sound in the hollow of the ear, sculpted, scarred says Xabier Erkizia. In his sound suitcase, there is his voice, his Basque language, the childhood memories of an old popular tradition which celebrates Sainte-Agathe in February, almost everywhere in the Basque Country.

Xabier Erkizia (Basque Country) is a sound artist, radio creator and journalist and contributor to Listening to the World. He is the author of sound installations, field recordings, compositions, radio works, and collective musical improvisations. During the past 15 years, his works have been exhibited in various countries in Europe, America and Asia. Since the 2000s, he co-directs the Ertzdi festival “Other music” and since 2003 he coordinates the sound work of Audio-Lab of the contemporary art center Arteleku in Donostia-San Sebastián. He has published various essays on the theme of collective creation and regularly collaborates with the media, especially radio and the written press.
