At least 24 of the country’s municipalities are opening up new nuclear power on their own land, now that it will be free to build new electricity production. The positive municipalities are mainly located in southern Sweden and are governed by the Moderates, a survey shows.
This week, the government decided to propose an amendment to the law that removes the ban on building new nuclear power at other locations than where reactors already exist today, that is Ringhals, Oskarshamn and Forsmark.
