De Baarnse knew she had to act immediately, because the fire would only spread faster because of the drought. “It is very dry there, there is tree bark, there is a bee hotel next to it and it is a wooden shed. With the current weather, that is of course very difficult,” she says. When the fire brigade arrived at the scene just after three o’clock, the fire had already been extinguished, a spokesperson for the Utrecht Security Region also confirms: “We only had to put out the extinguishing.”
