Liseberg’s board: Oceana must be rebuilt

Liseberg’s board decided at an extraordinary meeting on Friday to rebuild Oceana after the extensive fire earlier this week.

The board will announce this on Saturday.

– The fire was devastating, but it should not stop the development of the destination Liseberg. Liseberg is an important part of Gothenburg’s identity and Liseberg’s Anniversary project is an important building block in the recovery of the western Swedish hospitality industry, says board chairman Kurt Eliasson (S), in a press release.

Liseberg has felt the love of the people of Gothenburg

According to the decision, which is unanimous, Liseberg’s management will be tasked with starting the planning of how a reconstruction can take place, Eliasson further states.

At the same time, the board thanks the rescue services for their efforts during the course of the fire.

– We have felt fantastic support from everyone involved. The love the citizens of Gothenburg and all of Sweden have shown the project and Liseberg in this difficult moment has been priceless, says Kurt Eliasson.
