Last week, the Swedish Migration Agency called TV4 Nyhetern’s reporting that nine-year-old Lisa is to be deported alone to an Albanian orphanage uncensored.
But in an email conversation between the police and the Albanian embassy, it appears that neither the biological mother nor another relative is an option – but that she will be placed in an orphanage.
– The Swedish Migration Agency has known about this for a very long time, says Lisa’s lawyer Robert Nyström.
In the email conversation, which P4 Skaraborg was the first to tell about, it appears that neither the biological mother nor another relative is an option for nine-year-old Lisa. It is also clear that the nine-year-old will be placed in an institution in Albania if she is deported.
“She will be welcomed at the airport by a child protection officer and employees from the center where the child will be placed after arriving in Albania”, it says in the email exchange that TV4 Nyheterna has seen between the police and the Albanian embassy from the end of November last year.
Lisa’s lawyer: They’ve known this for a long time
It also appears in the email conversation that the police emphasized that Lisa only knows Swedish and that the mother will not be present to help with the translation into Albanian.
But last week, the Swedish Migration Agency told TV4 Nyheterna that the media reporting about Lisa being deported alone to an Albanian orphanage was incorrect. The authority said that children are primarily deported together with a parent or to waiting relatives.
But the email conversation shows that the Swedish Migration Agency has known the information about orphanages since November.
– What was said from the Migration Agency’s side was very clear, from November 28, that it is orphanages or social authorities that are the reception that applies. The Swedish Migration Agency has known about this for a very long time, says Lisa’s lawyer Robert Nyström.
Hoping for enforcement obstacles
Nine-year-old Lisa was born in Sweden and for the past few years has lived in a family home with Pernilla and Hans Backström outside Lidköping – who are currently her guardians.
The biological mother has said in an interview with TV4 Nyheterna that neither she herself nor relatives in the country can take care of Lisa. The only alternative is that Lisa ends up in an orphanage.
In an attempt to stop the deportation, the foster parents have applied to adopt Lisa – which the Court of Appeal rejected at the beginning of March. The decision has been appealed to the Supreme Court.
At the same time, the biological mother has agreed to adoption.
However, further attempts are being made to stop the deportation. It is the guardians and Lisa’s new lawyers who apply for a so-called impediment to enforcement with the Swedish Migration Agency. New circumstances are presented in the hope of a reconsideration.
The Swedish Migration Agency states in a comment to Aftonbladet that the authority refers questions about the deportation to the police.
TV4 Nyheterna is looking for the Swedish Migration Agency.
