Lisa Borg saved her sister’s life: “Running against the wave”

Lisa Borg saved her sisters life Running against the wave

20 years ago, on December 26, 2004, the Indian Ocean was hit by a powerful earthquake. As a result of the earthquake, a tsunami was created that reached the coasts of Thailand, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The disaster killed over 200,000 people, 543 of whom were Swedes.

A family that was on Christmas vacation when the disaster happened was the influencer Lisa Borgsforeshadowed The duck man. Her family was then in a bungalow on a sea beach in Thailand.

Lisa Borg was there during the 2004 tsunami

In 2004, when Lisa was 15, the family was on holiday in Thailand. On December 26, she is woken up by her little sister Sophie Anckarmanwho was then only five years old, who wants to show off that there are kittens outside the bungalow. Lisa accompanies her sister and then discovers what is to come.

– What happens then is something I will never forget. Then there is a roaring brown wall. There will be such an incredible uproar, people are screaming for their children and each other and so on, she says in “Conversation about the tsunami 20 years after” in SVT.

When she has to run away from the tsunami, the family splits up and runs in different directions.

– I run with my mother and then I turn around because I want to see how close the wave is and then my little sister who was five years old was lying there. (She) was kind of pushed between people who were looking for their family members, she says in the program and continues:

– I turn around and run towards the wave and towards her and lift her up and run back. Then we each took a hand, me and mother, so she just flew between us.

Sofi Anckarman then says that she herself does not remember anything from the accident, which she believes may be due to the fact that she was only a small child or that she has repressed it.

But for Lisa, the accident has stuck with her and for many years she had nightmares at night, but today she feels better.
