Lisa, 9, was to be deported alone to an orphanage in Albania.
Today, the news came that she has received a temporary residence permit.
– I’m so happy, I can’t believe it’s really happening yet. But I’m so happy, says Lisa.
Nine-year-old Lisa, who was born in Sweden and in recent years lived with a family home in Lidköping, was to be deported alone to an orphanage in Albania, but has now been granted a temporary residence permit.
Was going to buy ice cream – then the message came
The message came after Lisa and her guardian Paulina Backström had been out in the forest and were on their way to buy ice cream.
– When we parked at the kiosk, the lawyer called Robert. He talked a little about various things, then he told us that Lisa had received a temporary residence permit, says Lisa’s guardian Paulina Backström and adds:
– We laugh and cry about each other. It’s absolutely fantastic. It has barely landed yet, says Paulina Backström.
The family: “We have fought for so long”
The residence permit is for one year according to the family, who describe the whole thing as a step on the way.
– We have fought for so long, we have fought for Lisa to be listened to, says Paulina Backström.
The family describes how they have had a hard time for many years, but that it now feels like they actually listened to Lisa and took into account where she has the strongest connection.
Lisa’s biological mother, who is in Albania, cannot take care of her, as she suffers from mental illness. She has also said that she wants Lisa to stay in Sweden.
– I love her with all my heart and want to take care of her. If I had a better life, I would do it, the mother has previously told TV4 Nyheterna.
