The Lions will face Hungary in their next match on Friday at 16:20. Urheilu follows the World Cup in this article.

The Finnish men’s national ice hockey team has started its World Cup by defeating France 5–3 and Germany 4–3, and losing to the United States 1–4 and Sweden 1–2 via a penalty shootout.

There are enough things to worry about. The Lions’ defense has been in dire straits with the puck as the opponent puts pressure on them.

On the offensive end, Leijon has had a rough time. ‘s expert Ismo Lehkonen stated after Wednesday’s victory over France that no chemistry has been found among the five, and not many of the five’s faces show that the game feels good.

According to Lehkonen, the head coach of the Lions Jukka Jalonen has to think seriously about chain compositions.

– You could see from the body language of certain players that they are upset that the game is not going well. There started to be such elements that the dome started to go upside down, Lehkonen added.

Also Finland’s biggest NHL stars Mikko Rantanen, Kaapo Kako and Kasperi Kapanen are each still without a goal scored. In the media, for example, it has been brought up whether it would be worthwhile to put the NHL confirmations in the same chain.

However, Jalonen has emphasized composure. After the victory over France, he told that he doesn’t think that anyone in Leijon will start playing better next to another player.

Changes in training

On Thursday, however, small changes were seen in the Leijoni’s half-day training. Played the last games as a center of the second chain Jere Sallinen and the pier of the quad chain Ahti Oksanenwho scored his first World Cup goal against France, were extra forwards.

Tappara striker Walter Merelä had taken Oksanen’s place in training, so he was involved in the playing chains for the first time.

Antti Suomela played in the opening match against the USA in the middle of the second chain, but has since been sidelined for games due to a slight injury. However, he also trained with the second-stringer before the France game.
