No goal in the final series against Färjestad.
Now Linus Omark reveals the damage behind the meager points harvest.
– I had problems, he says.
Luleå had a dream position to pinch their first Swedish Championship gold since 1996. Norrbotten had the advantage of playing four of the final matches at home, but fell in the last and instead Färjestad became Swedish champions.
Reveals the damage problem
Linus Omark returned to Luleå and SHL before the season, and would lead the team to a gold. The forward was the team’s best scorer during both the regular season and the playoffs, but during the final series the harvest was worse.
The star accounted for only three points, all assists, and did not manage to be the tongue in cheek when Luleå chased their long-awaited gold. Now, however, the 35-year-old reveals that he was injured during the entire final series, which was something that hampered him.
– I have had something that has kept me down almost the entire season, in the final I had problems with the groin, for example, he says to NSD.
Now leaving Luleå
It’s been a week since the scorching final loss, and with Linus Omark the disappointment is still there.
– To fight as long as we had done, and be so close, but still not win. It was really brutal, he says and continues:
– I have never experienced a feeling of emptiness like the one I have now.
Linus Omark will not get another chance to win the SHL next season. It is already clear that the star will leave Luleå and will instead be housed in Geneva in the Swiss league.
