Linnea drives the world’s first electric log car: “More happens”

As part of reducing carbon dioxide emissions during transport, SCA in Umeå has purchased a timber truck that runs on electricity.

The timber truck runs on a loop between the terminal in Umeå and the factory in Obbola, where it is charged twice a day. According to the driver, it is both quieter and stronger than other log trucks.

– It is almost more powerful than a normal diesel car. It happens more when you step on the gas, says Linnea Frölander at Grundberg’s haulage company.

The electrification of heavy transport has so far been very slow, according to the 2030 Secretariat. In eight years, the entire vehicle fleet must have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 70 percent compared to 2010. In order for this to become a reality, more special chargers must be built at a rapid pace.

– We would love to see others follow suit. Only then can we develop the technology, we can develop the infrastructure and pull all the gears on this. It is a very important part of a climate-smart transition, says Sustainability Manager Hans Djurberg.
