Linn Svahn’s new success at the World Cup – strong second place in Norway after great drama

The victory in the sprint cup was already fixed after the quarter-final in the Drammen city race.
Now Linn Svahn sets her sights on the overall World Cup.
Before the end of the season in Falun, Jessie Diggins is within reach.

When Lynn Svahn together with Frida Karlsson secured her semi-final places, she at the same time established an impregnable lead over the Norwegian Kristine Stavå’s Ski City in the sprint cup.

For the third year in a row, a Swede is at the top of the Sprint Cup throne. Maja Dahlqvistwho already disappeared in the qualifiers in Drammen, had that position in both 2022 and 2023.

Svahn, Karlsson and Johanna Hagström reached the final.

There, Stavås Skistad stopped Svahn’s progress and took the fourth sprint victory of the season. The Norwegian was clearly the strongest in the race and Svahn had to settle for second place. Hagström came fourth, Karlsson sixth after she broke a pole.

Svahn overall winner

Svahn was only 20 years old when she won the Sprint Cup in the 2020 World Cup. The success continued the following season, where the victory in the 10 kilometer classic mass start stood out – Svahn managed to defeat the Norwegian Therese Johaug.

Then the career took an unfortunate turn. In one fall, she injured one shoulder really badly. Only after two operations, failed comebacks and long rehabilitation periods was she seriously back at the WC in Planica last winter.

With Friday’s sprint in Falun remaining in the season, Linn Svahn has five victories and has also taken another five podiums in sprints.

Closer to Diggins
