Linn Svahn’s gratifying statement of strength – was fastest in the sprint qualifying when all the Swedes went on

Linn Svahn is showing good form in pursuit of her first individual World Cup victory in almost three years.
The 24-year-old was fastest in qualifying in today’s sprint, the season’s first in freestyle, in Trondheim, Norway.
All Swedish skaters, ladies and gentlemen, went on.

The last time that Lynn Svahn won an individual world cup competition in Falun in January 2021. Since then she has been badly injured, and only now has she been able to enter a new season injury-free again.

Svahn’s joy

Before today’s competition, Svahn had high hopes.
– I’m disappointed that I don’t win competitions anymore. So that’s what I have to try today. But the level is so very high now, so it’s not child’s play, she told Viaplay before the qualifiers.

Finnish Jasmi Joensuu was second in the morning’s prologue, just over a second behind Svahn.
All seven Swedes advanced to the quarterfinals. Johanna Hagström was second fastest of the blue and yellow riders in ninth place, followed by Moa Ilar (13), Emma Rib (14), Frida Karlsson (18), Maja Dahlqvist (20) and Moa Lundgren (25).

Indicates the best

Even on the men’s side, all Swedish skaters advanced. Fastest of them was Edwin Indicateswho was fourth in the qualifier, just over three seconds behind the Norwegian Johannes Hösflot Kläbo.

George Ersson, Emil Danielsson, Johan Häggström, Oskar Svensson and Calle Halfvarsson also made it to the quarterfinals.
