Linn Svahn’s brutally honest words about Armand Duplantis – say what all Swedes think about Mondo: “It’s just that…”

Armand Duplantis is perhaps Sweden’s greatest athlete.
Linn Svahn also thinks so.
When “Mondo” snubbed the ski star at one of Sweden’s finest prizes, she came up with the absolute most powerful tribute.

Armand Duplantis has already won everything there is to win in the world of pole vaulting and his track record is something for the history books. Mondo has already broken a whole series of world records, and has more jumps over six meters than anyone else in history. Despite the fact that he is only 24 years old.

Incredible breakthrough

Add to that that Duplantis has already won Olympic and World Cup gold, and that he has been completely dominant in the Diamond League for several years in a row. Mondo is quite simply Sweden’s biggest sports star right now, and he has, to say the least, won the hearts of the Swedish people as he is constantly ranked as the most popular athlete in our country.

But it’s not just sports fans who are impressed by Duplantis, it’s other sports stars too. When Armand Duplantis was awarded the 2020 Bragdguldet, for breaking two world records and the highest outdoor jump ever, few could protest. Another who had been discussed as a possible winner of the award, however, was Linn Svahn.

Svahn’s great tribute

The sprint star had made a huge breakthrough coming out of nowhere, taking home the overall victory in the Sprint World Cup after winning three individual events and two team sprint events. But even Linn Svahn himself had nothing to say against Duplantis being awarded the prize for his incredible development curve.

Instead, Linn Svahn chose to, brutally honest, say a few well-chosen words in an absolutely unparalleled tribute to Duplantis.

– Clearly the right choice. It would have been a joke if I won, when we have Duplantis. Just to bow and tick for his achievements in the past year, a strong and fierce athlete, Svahn told Svenska Dagbladet.
