Linn Svahn’s beautiful words after the superior victory at the World Cup – nice tribute to the teammates: “So impressive”

Fifth sprint victory of the season – in the eighth final. There are not many people who are proud of Linn Svahn.
She once again demonstrated her superiority in Canmore.
– I was hungry today, she says.

The evening’s World Cup competition offered a new display from Linn Svahn – and from the Swedish women’s national team in long distance. Jonna Sundling came third, Maja Dahlqvist five and Emma Ribom six.

Among the twelve who reached the semi-finals, five were Swedes, of the six who got a place in the final, four were Swedes. The probability calculation was not difficult to do.

Svahn’s tribute

There was no need to be called a math whiz to figure out that new Swedish success was in the offing – maybe one like the last time it went in a classic sprint? Then the trio stepped Svahn, Frida Karlsson and Sundling on the podium in Oberhof.

It wasn’t supposed to be that much fun in the Canadian mountains. The Norwegian Kristine Stavå’s Ski City snagged second place ahead of Sundling after finish photo.

Svahn still praised the team.
– It is the team effort that does it. As we ski today. So impressive, she tells Viaplay.

Frida’s disappointment

Sundling did not suffer from having the small margins against her.
– It still feels like a small win. I come third, but compared to the last sprint competitions, it’s nice to go all the way and reach the podium, she says.

Ribom, Dahlqvist, Johanna Hagström, Svahn and Sundling reached the semi-finals. Hagström was the only one who did not get a place in the final.

Karlsson then? She already disappeared in the quarter-finals, where she did not finish better than fifth. Karlsson was seriously hooked and said afterwards that it largely had to do with her skis. Or rather, that the competitors pushed their way to better stuff underfoot.

Karlsson, of few words and clearly disappointed, to Viaplay:
– It’s bad, it’s sour. I knew that the German and the Finns had great skis. I was speechless at the end.

Calle to the final

More surprising was Calle Halfvarssons nice progress. The veteran won his quarter-final heat clearly, but in the semi-final he was left smoldering for a long time. Sågmyra’s pride found new strength, came third and made it to the final via the best time.

The final, where he came last, was his first since Lahti last season.
– Final with a rather bad body. It’s final, but it’s not good. Now I just want to come down from the high altitude. I can’t breathe, he says to Viaplay.

The Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klæbo took the 76th victory of his career, ahead of the Frenchman Richard Jouve and the countryman Erik Valnes.

This weekend, the World Cup continues in Minneapolis.
