Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

During Tuesday, seven skaters who have already been selected for the WC squad for Planica were presented.
Linn Svahn is not included – but the national team keeps a place open for the 23-year-old.
– She has to perform in the World Cup to settle in, says national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport.

On February 23, the WC in Planica begins with a classic sprint, and on Tuesday seven skaters were presented who are already ready for the WC squad. On the women’s side, four names were presented in Jonna Sundling, Maja Dahlqvist, Emma Ribom and Johanna Hagström. Lynn Svahn however, is not in the squad.

“Must perform”

Svahn has not yet competed in the World Cup this year due to an injury, and the World Cup competitions in particular weigh heavily according to the national team manager Anders Byström.
– She will probably run the Scandinavian Cup after the New Year and get to the World Cup that way. She has to run the World Cup to be selected, you can’t go straight away, says the national team manager to SVT Sport.

According to Byström, the World Cup functions as a selection for the WC squad.
– There are no rules. But we have many who have top results in the World Cup. She also has to perform there to settle in. We write it in our criteria, that we have the World Cup as selection for the WC.

The shoulder injury has hampered Linn Svahn for some time, but she still hopes that there will be a free place for her when the WC starts in just over two months. Who gets the last place in the sprint will be announced at the end of January. Then the final WC places in other distances will also be presented.

On the men’s side, three skaters have so far received a place in the WC squad. It is about William Poromaa, Calle Halfvarsson and the debutante Edwin Anger.
