In the second heat of the women’s sprint, a scary situation was seen, when Norway’s Ane Appelkvist, Hedda Amundsen and the Swedish superstar Linn Svahn lost the game immediately.
The Norwegian duo fell at the bottom of the first fall. Svahn, on the other hand, trotted out of the track, looking scary, into the stands and onto the side of the adjacent highway.
Svahn drove out at high speed, like a formula car in its tracks.
However, the Swede survived the situation with a start.
Editor of Urheilu Riku Salminen introduced the place. He drifted to a place where there were birch trees nearby. The snowmobile was also in the same area, but luckily for Svahn, it was in a different place.
– This is unfortunate for everyone. Everyone would like to start their World Cup season well, and a crash at this point in the season is certainly unfortunate, Svahn explained to the press.
Svahn knew that the situation could have been worse. He is used to succeeding in sprints, so even now it would have been better.
– Of course, I’m disappointed that the race ended like this. But on the other hand, I’m relieved that it didn’t get worse.
Svahn speculated that there might have been, for example, a loose piece of ice at the crash site.
– Our collision was like a domino effect, Svahn described.
Kyllönen was disappointed
The fallen Norwegians are also hard sprinters, so for the three who remained standing, an excellent passing lane opened up for the semi-finals. In the end, the number one in that batch was Anne Kyllönen.
Kyllönen saw that next to him some athletes were going upside down and heard a clatter.
– When I came to the turning point of the first ascent, they shouted that there are only three of us on board. I reached the final climb with a calm mind.
Kyllönen did not make it to the final. Originally, a place in the semi-finals would have been a jackpot for him.
– The whole skiing felt good, so it was great to win my own event. My mood was good, so I would have liked to be in the final.
Kyllönen was frustrated after his semi-final.
– I knew that it was going to be really tough to make it to the final on time. My uphill skiing felt really good. However, the lanes were blocked. I thought that I should have used my own strength and fought in the draw, where I am not that strong.
However, Kyllönen is overall satisfied with what he is doing at the moment.
– I am satisfied that my skiing felt good and easy. The ski worked and the crowd was crazy. It seems strange that at the same time you are disappointed, but also happy, Kyllönen opened up about his conflicting feelings.
