A Norwegian national team coach went out of his way to benefit Kristine Stavå’s Skistad.
The play makes Linn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist laugh.
– Maybe in another sport, says Dahlqvist to VG.
Time and again in recent seasons, it has been a common sight that in the World Cup sprint finals on the women’s side there are several Swedes, and the Norwegian Kristine Stavås Ski town.
Norwegian performance
It has also been between Stavås Skistad and sprint-strong Swedes who Emma Rib, Jonna Sundling, Lynn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist it stood between when it comes to the fight for the podium places. This season it has been the Swedes who have taken over, with four sprint victories (Emma Ribom and Linn Svahn two each).

But Skistad won the sprint in Trondheim, and has found himself on the podium in all of the season’s sprints. That made her coach in the national team, Stig Rune Kveen, stick out his chin.
– Kristine is the world’s best sprinter. The only reason why she lost to the Swedes is because she faced several of them at the same time. If she faced them one on one, she would win against them all. Every time, says Kveen to Expressen.
Dahlqvist’s answer
Maja Dahlqvist does not agree with Kveen’s theory.
– We don’t know, it’s a different sport. She might be the world’s best in another sport. That’s a strange claim. But they try to find ways where they are the best without being able to get a result, says Dahlqvist with a laugh according to VG.

Linn Svahn has faced Stavås Skistad many times now. And she also does not agree that the Norwegian tops the list of sprinters.
– If it is the case that you are so strong and that is the idea, then it may be because Skistad does not have a good enough coach when there are six of us on the starting line. That is what we are competing for, says Svahn to the Norwegian newspaper.

Svahn’s sawing
Svahn, who has won the last two World Cup sprints, adds:
– It is easy to say. Kristine is absolutely one of the world’s best sprinters, I can swear that. But the format is like that. I might have been the best skier in the world if we didn’t have uphills, but we don’t.
