Linn Svahn and Emma Ribom comment on Kristine Stavå’s Skistad

Kristine Stavås Skistad is recovering after her stomach operation and missed the World Cup premiere in Ruka.
Despite that, she is still the name on everyone’s lips.
– What’s cool about Kristine is that she does her own thing and follows her own guidelines, says Emma Ribom to the Norwegian Dagbladet.

It was really noticeable that Kristine Stavå’s Ski City25, was missing during the premiere weekend in Finnish Ruka. Without the advance favorite in place, it was free for the Swedes to go for the victory. Surprisingly it was Johanna Hagström26, who won the sprint, while Maja Dahlqvist came third and Jonna Sundling four.

Competitors’ words about Stavås Skistad

Sadly, at least for all Norwegians, Stavås Skistad was missing in Ruka. She was at home recovering. About a week ago, she was forced into spontaneous stomach surgery and it was reported that she would miss the start of the season. It is still unclear when she can be back – but it will probably happen quite soon.

Stavås Skistad has taken ten World Cup victories and provoked bilious fever in several Swedes over the past two years. There are clearly divided opinions about the provocative Norwegian.
– Skistad is tough, and I like her attitude. I’m not like her, but I don’t understand why everyone hates her. She’s just great. At the same time, I think that’s why everyone hates her. I think a lot of people are jealous because she is so good. I think she’s cool and fast. She just does her job and doesn’t care about everyone else, says the Finnish sprinter Jasmi Joensuu to Dagbladet.

Svahn and Ribom like Kristine

When it comes to the Swedes, there are of course many who think that Stavås Skistad is strange and special. But at the same time there are many who like her, even though she is difficult to read.
– Yes, I agree that she is a bit of a mystery. I don’t have a good handle on her even though I compete against her a lot. It’s very funny. We need someone to put us in our place and even though people may be tired of the duels between Norway and Sweden, that is what makes the sport exciting, says Lynn Svahn to the Norwegian newspaper.
