Linn Svahn and Charlotte Kalla reveal what they really think of the SVT program Vinterstudion: “It can’t be…”

They are two of the biggest names in Swedish skiing.
And both have so much to thank SVT’s “Vinterstudion” for.
Linn Svahn and Charlotte Kalla admit what they think of the acclaimed TV show.

On December 8, 2007, Swedish winter sports on television changed forever. At that time, the “Winter studio” premiered for the very first time and would quickly become a great success.

The winter studio

The presenters André Pops and Yvette Hermundstad broadcast the SVT program with a sure hand and guided Swedes through the long winters. The winter studio became the home of all World Cup competitions and World Cup races in cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, biathlon and also smaller sports such as ski cross, freestyle and ski jumping.

For many years, the SVT program has been a real viewer favorite and a big reason why so many Swedes sit on the TV sofas in front of cross-country skiing and biathlon. But in 2021 everything changed when skiing in particular left SVT for Viaplay and Vinterstudion has not been the same since.

Svahn & Kalla

Many Swedish national team skiers have so much to thank the SVT program for. Two of our biggest ski heroes reveal what they really think of Vinterstudion.
– I have grown up watching Vinterstudion for all my years. It has been a tradition for me and has always been a special moment, says Lynn Svahn in an old TV interview with Aftonbladet.
– The winter studio has had enormous importance for the popularity that all cross-country skiers have, that they chose to broadcast so many of our races and that we also had such success. It couldn’t get better!, says Charlotte Kalla in the same interview.

Kalla got her big break thanks to Vinterstudion, which featured her unforgettable victory in the 2008 Tour de Ski.
– I remember during the Tour de Ski, which runs during a very good period where many people are free and have time to follow sports on TV. My breakthrough could not have come at a more timely time, says Charlotte to the evening newspaper.
