Linn Persson became Linn Gestblom six months ago.
Now the biathlete says that neither she nor her husband Christian have gotten used to her new surname. It leads to some deadly situations.
– My husband says wrong, so far he is probably the one who does it most often, she tells Östersunds-Posten.
The past year has been very eventful for the biathlete Linn Gestblom30. The native of Värmland has had problems with a shoulder for several years and after her second shoulder operation in February last year, she has had to recover a lot. Sadly, she has had to cancel this entire season to build up her strength and mobility again.
Linn Gestblom’s new injury notice
It was of course a big blow for her to have to stand over the whole year. She had a hope this summer that she would be able to drive as usual, but realized early on that it would not work.
– I knew it would be a long process, but if everything had gone great from the start I might have been able to compete after Christmas. And it actually went quite well until last autumn, then things started to get complicated and I had to rethink, she tells Östersunds-Posten.

Now, for her part, it’s about recovering and rehabilitating her injury. She thinks the shoulder feels stable right now and she doesn’t feel any pain, but it takes time to regain full strength between sessions. Therefore, she cannot train as she wants.
Linn Gestblom’s new name confusion
This summer, Linn Gestblom married her beloved Christian. It was a grand wedding that she often thinks back to.
– It was nice, lovely and so much fun. There was a lot of preparation ahead and I felt like I was really in a wedding bubble. I listened to podcasts about how to arrange a wedding and everything possible, says Linn.

Many have reacted to her changing her last name from Persson to Gestblom. It has taken time for many to get used to the new name on the start lists. But not even Linn herself, or her husband, remembers her name. A new kind of confusion has arisen over her name change.
– My husband says it wrong, so far he is probably the one who does it most often. Sometimes he says my full name as a joke when we talk to each other, for example “who put the dishes here?” and then he draws my full name, but says it wrong. Then I answer “no, I don’t know, it’s not me anyway”, she says and laughs.
