Line 14 of the Paris metro now connects the North and South of the capital with its extension inaugurated this Monday, June 24 by Emmanuel Macron. A vital line for the Olympic Games, because it serves the athletes’ village, the Stade de France and the aquatic center to the north of Paris, and to the south it will take visitors directly to Orly airport.

The inauguration of the extension of metro line 14 has been long awaited, as this Parisian explains to us: โ€œ I’m very curious so I came here and back on purpose. I find it very good, in 15 minutes, we are there. ยป

The journey between Olympiades and Orly stations takes around fifteen minutes. This thirty-year-old returns from a trip. She appreciates the time saving: โ€œ I think I saved half an hour. This extension also represents a saving of precious time for airport staff, like this cleaning lady: โ€œ With connections, it took me an hour to go from Gare de Lyon to the airport. It was truly hell. Today, I am very happy to have line 14. ยป

With these eight new stations, metro 14 can transport 800,000 passengers per day, or 150,000 more. A major challenge for transport during Olympic Games of Paris where more than 15 million visitors are expected.
