Lindt admits – has misled customers

The chocolate giant Lindt, or Lindt & Sprüngli, as they are actually called, is a Swiss chocolate manufacturer that has stores worldwide and sells chocolate to grocery stores all over the world.

The company was founded in 1845 by David Sprüngli-Schwarz and is today one of the leading companies in chocolate manufacturing of premium chocolate. One praline they are known for, among other things, is their Lindor balls in different flavors.

Lindt are known for their dark chocolate

But they are above all known for their premium chocolate, which is dark with a high cocoa content.

But now Lindt has admitted that the luxury dark chocolate is not as high quality as they claim.

In their advertisements, they always talk loudly about their chocolate and use words like “expertly crafted with the finest ingredient” and “excellence”, but this should not be true.

Now Lindt’s lawyers say that the iconic words are “puffery”, which in Swedish can be translated to fluff or when something is exaggerated in an advertising context.

The reason they say this is believed to be to avoid a lawsuit in the US.

The background to the lawsuit is a report from an American consumer organization,Consumer Reports, who questioned the quality of Lindt’s dark chocolate when heavy metals such as lead were found in their and other dark chocolate bars, writes the Daily Mail.

Lindt claims that the word “puffery” should be seen as a legal response and not as a confirmation that their products are of low quality, writes Daily Mail.
