Linda: That’s how my IBS disappeared

Linda Johansson was on five different medications a day to ease her stomach pain. Her IBS (irratable bowel syndrome) started at the age of 18 and was initially relieved with tablets. But after contracting covid two years ago, it got even worse. Nothing helped anymore. – It was like a bleeding wound the whole time. Ugh, it was hard, she says. Constant pain in the stomach Anyone who has had any kind of pain knows how it can affect one’s life. Linda Johansson’s everyday life with work and children demanded her attention, something that eventually became a struggle. – I have been in a lot of pain for periods. The mood has fluctuated up and down, it’s hard to have a stomach ache. It affects one’s life very, very much, she says. Digital CBT treatment Doctors diagnosed IBS and the message was that Linda Johansson would unfortunately have to live with it. But it was something Linda herself did not accept. She began a digital CBT treatment via the internet psychiatry unit with information, videos, questions and tasks. The treatment took 12 weeks and today Linda is free from both pain and medication. – For me it is a life change. I have largely gotten rid of my symptoms. I don’t walk around thinking about my stomach all the time, like I did before. I feel fantastic. I used to be an enemy of my stomach pain. Now I’m friends with it, says Linda Johansson.
