What kind of event is this? The spotlight hours in Pokémon GO will continue as usual in the new year. These continue to take place every Tuesday and bring you at least one Pokémon that appears almost everywhere in the event.
There is also a bonus in each Spotlight Hour, which is also active for the 60 minutes of the event.
In the first spotlight hour of the year, Voltobal awaits in his regular and Hisui forms. The regular form of the Pokémon has the Electric type, while the Hisui variant also has the Plant type. Both monsters can evolve into Lektrobal, or Hisui-Lektrobal.

Spotlight Hour on January 7th – Start and Bonuses
When does the spotlight hour start? As usual, the spotlight hour begins at 6:00 p.m. After exactly 60 minutes, at 7 p.m., it’s over again.
Which bonuses are active? If you catch Pokémon in the event, you can look forward to twice the amount of stardust. This bonus applies to any Pokémon you catch within 60 minutes of the event.
If you also use a star piece, you can further increase the amount of stardust you receive.
Can you catch Shiny Voltobal? Yes. Both Voltobal variants of the Spotlight Hour can also be found in the game as Shiny.
Is the spotlight hour worth it? Neither the two Voltobal forms nor their developments are suitable for use in raids. There are stronger monsters in Pokémon GO for this purpose, both in the area of plant and electric attackers.
The Pokémon are also not convincing in the regular battle leagues. However, there are some special competitions, such as the Color Cup, which will take place from January 7th to 21st, 2025, in which Hisui-Lektrobal can score points.
If you’re after Shiny, the event could also be interesting for you. However, it should be noted that the chance of finding shiny Pokémon is not increased during the spotlight hour. Only the number of monsters you encounter is increased.
The stardust bonus can be interesting for you if you have an acute shortage of stardust and want to replenish your supply.
