Ligue 1 Lille ordered to pay two million euros to

The Lille club was ordered on Friday September 29 by the Court of Appeal of Douai (North) to pay two million euros to its ex-coach Marcelo Bielsa, dismissed in 2017, due to a “parachute clause” which protected him in the event of dismissal, even for serious misconduct. At first instance, in July 2021, the Lille industrial tribunal rejected all its requests from the 68-year-old Argentine coach, dismissed for serious misconduct in December 2017. Recruited in the wake of the takeover of the northern club by the Spanish-Luxembourgish businessman Gérard Lopez at the start of 2017, Marcelo Bielsa, who passed through the OM bench, was to allow Losc to “change dimension”. But he fizzled out, and was laid off after 13 matches while Losc was penultimate in Ligue 1.
