The new Destiny 2 DLC “Lightfall” celebrates its release this month. So Bungie will be taking its servers offline for the brand new content for a while. How long exactly will we summarize for you in this article with all the important information and times for the start.
When will the new DLC “Lightfall” start? The release of the next major expansion of Destiny 2 “Lightfall” is scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in Germany. Traditionally, however, there will be a longer downtime before the start, which you should plan for.
So that you can plan optimally, Bungie has already announced the times for the downtime. Because everything you still want to achieve in the current Seasons 16, 17, 18 and the current Season 19 should be completed by then. Seasonal content will be leaving the game and no longer available in Lightfall.
Here is the current Lightfall release schedule:

Are login problems to be expected? Yes, that’s never entirely out of the question. Here, however, it should be noted that the last launch of the DLC “The Witch Queen” was already extremely smooth. After the planned downtime, the servers were back online on time and there were only small queues. Many teams were thus able to get started with the new content straight away.
For 2023, the players with “Lightfall” are therefore hoping for a process that is just as easy on the nerves. Nevertheless, Bungie has pointed out to be on the safe side that despite all the routine support, queues can never be completely ruled out.
Players should plan for queues: Bungie said through its website that once the game is back online and Lightfall has launched, there will be queues to log in. Especially in the first few hours and later for a while during the main seasons.

Resource-saving and fast DLC: There was also good news from support. Many players were worried that Destiny 2 could not “grow” forever, especially since Bungie had announced that it would no longer pack old DLCs in the content vault.
They’ve been working behind the scenes on the Destiny engine, as revealed by Joe Blackburn in August 2022, preparing their technology and game to last for many, many years. This already seems to be paying off in Lightfall.
What platforms will Lightfall be released on? Destiny 2 releases the new DLC on PS4, PS5, the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and on the PC. Google Stadia is no longer supported as it has been discontinued.
If you plan to level up to the Day One Raid right after the launch of the new DLC, you can find more information about the exact times of the competitive mode in our Lightfall HUB:

With this information you should be able to plan your start in the upcoming DLC well. There is still plenty of time for players to complete their Triumphs and Titles. In addition, there are currently some “facilitations” that should help you with this.
What are your plans for the new Destiny DLC “Lightfall”? Does that fit the time for the German players? Will you try to start the new DLC directly on Tuesday? Or do you play it safe and only log into Lightfall when the release and raid hustle and bustle are completely over?
