The EU had already started to lighten its sanctions since the fall of Bashar El-Assad, but it was a progressive and reversible lifting. This Tuesday, the foreign ministers gathered in Brussels decided to remove all economic sanctions. “We want to help the Syrian people rebuild a new Syria, inclusive and peaceful,” said the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas.
