Life is also unfair and not just F1

British driver Lewis Hamilton says F1 should consider further restrictions on car development for future seasons. He believes that this would prevent long periods of control by one team.

A British driver driving a Mercedes Lewis Hamilton says that the team that dominates the F1 series will get an unfair advantage for the coming seasons. Among other things, the news covered the matter British broadcasting company BBC.

– When you lead the series with a hundred points, there is little need to improve the current car, so the team can start developing a new car. Due to the budget cap, the money from the current season will be used for next season’s car, says Hamilton.

Red Bull has a Dutch driver Max Verstappen’s managed the F1 series for two seasons. In the second season, Verstappen won with a narrow difference of eight points, but in the previous season, the championship came with a difference of up to 146 points. At the moment, Verstappen is 69 points ahead of his second teammate, the Mexican Sergio Perez.

Nine points away from Perez is Aston Martin’s Spanish champion Fernando Alonso. Hamilton is fourth, 15 points from Alonso and 93 points from Verstappen.

This season, Red Bull has won all eight races. The team is on its way to a second consecutive team championship, with a gap of up to 154 points to Mercedes.

According to Hamilton, the competition would be evened out if every team could start developing their next season’s car on the same day.

– No one would have an advantage and then we would seriously compete in the short term for the development of a new car, Hamilton said.

Hamilton reminds us that he himself got to enjoy the superiority of his team. Mercedes dominated the F1 series in the 2014–2020 seasons.

– During my 17-year career, even before I entered the F1 series, there have been periods of managing one team and this continues. I’m lucky to have had a period like that and Max (Verstappen) has one now.

Verstappen coldly acknowledges the British driver’s comments.

– Even life is unfair, and not just F1. We just have to live with it. We didn’t talk about it when Hamilton won the championships, did we? That’s why we don’t need to talk about it now either, says the Dutchman.
