The shooting death of a man in his 20s took place in the Länsmansgården district in Gothenburg on the afternoon of July 7 last year. According to prosecutors, the incident had links to an ongoing gang conflict in the area.
In addition to the 20-year-old, three more young men are sentenced for involvement in the murder.
The man who was shot to death was a member of the group Norra Biskop, while those convicted were members of Södra Biskop.
– It is about a settlement between criminal groups, said prosecutor Maria Thorell in a press release when the indictment was filed in January.
Admitted during trial
Two men in their 20s were arrested an hour after the shooting and later charged on suspicion of murder. Both denied it during the investigation, but when the trial began in late January, one of the men changed his mind and admitted to firing the fatal shot.
– He did not intend to take the plaintiff’s life. His intention has been to intimidate the plaintiff, said the defendant’s lawyer Max Ahlgren to SVT in connection with the trial.
The other man continued to deny wrongdoing.
