lies at the origin of the suspects custody

For the first time as part of the investigation into the young girl who disappeared in Alsace in September 2023, three suspects were placed in police custody this Tuesday, March 26.

Lina, a 15-year-old teenager, has been missing since September 23, 2023. Originally from Plaine in the Bas-Rhin department, the young girl disappeared while she was walking to the Saint-Blaise-la-station. Roche where she had to board a train to Strasbourg where her boyfriend lives. Not seeing her arrive, it was the latter who then warned Lina’s mother and then the police. A source close to the investigation told BFMTV that the investigators are working hard in this “high-speed investigation”. This Tuesday morning, AFP learned that three suspects were taken into custody today, confirming information from the Parisian.

According to AFP, a couple was summoned by the gendarmerie and a man was arrested at his home on Tuesday March 26. These residents of the region are the first to be placed in police custody in this case but there is currently no proof that they are involved in the disappearance of the young girl. Other witnesses have already been summoned but to be heard freely.

According to Le Parisien, these three individuals were summoned due to anomalies in their schedules. Inconsistencies were noted by investigators based on the statements made by these three individuals during their first hearings. The gendarmes are trying to understand why these inconsistencies were made and if they are not hiding a lie linked to the disappearance of the teenager.

Who are the suspects interviewed by investigators this Tuesday? According to information from BFMTV, a man from the Alsatian region was first questioned, directly under police custody, to have over a “long time” more information on his version of the facts. The other two placed in police custody are a man and a woman living as a couple, initially interviewed without deprivation of liberty. But their story does not correspond to the chronology established by the investigators, which led to them also being placed in police custody.

“It is a 360-degree investigation which requires investigations on the ground,” indicates a source close to the matter to BFMTV. The media explains that the investigations are continuing in two stages. Investigators are looking at both the field, in particular with one of the favored leads of the investigation since the end of January according to which the teenager got into a gray Clio on the day of her disappearance.

The gendarmes were in fact interested in a 20-year-old man traveling in this type of vehicle and who allegedly approached young girls during the period of Lina’s disappearance. As BFMTV specifies, for the moment, the results of the research surrounding this individual are not known. According to BFMTV, in parallel with the field, the investigators are also closely interested in the young girl’s “digital environment”.
