Lidia Jorge her goodbye to her mother

Lídia Jorge was born in the Algarve in 1946. Graduated in Romance philology from the University of Lisbon, she left for Angola and Mozambique in 1970. The colonial war inspired her portrait of the wife of a Portuguese army officer in Rivages des murmures (Métailié, 1989). Back in Lisbon, she devoted herself to writing and published numerous novels, translated and awarded worldwide, including The Soldier’s Blanket, We Will Fight the Shadow, The Night of the Women Who Sing and The Memorables.
