British artist Liam Payne has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to local police authorities, writes CNN. On Wednesday evening, the police were called to the hotel after calls about a person behaving aggressively and suspected of being under the influence of drugs. Then Payne was found lifeless in the courtyard.
A communicator for the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security tells the AP that the artist “jumped from the balcony in his room”.
In a phone call obtained by the AP, the hotel manager is heard saying that the police must come immediately, because a guest at the hotel has taken large amounts of drugs and drunk alcohol and is destroying the entire room.
Struggled against abuse
Liam Payne has been open about his battle with addiction. In the summer of 2023, he said in a YouTube video that he had been sober for six months and had spent time in a rehabilitation clinic.
