The manufacturer LG is known for its TVs for PS5 and Xbox. Now you have presented an NFT collection for your own television. NFTs are small, digital images that you can purchase. What could be better than letting your own collection shine on your monitor?

Alongside Sony and Samsung, LG is one of the best-known manufacturers of large televisions. You can also find the OLED TVs from LG in our buying guide, which 4K TV you should buy for your PS5 or Xbox.

Now LG has created a special collection of digital artworks. You can not only watch them on your LG television, you can also trade them.

If you want to know what exactly NFTs are, you will find a comprehensive explanation in the following article:

NFT is the new trend in gaming, companies are worth billions of dollars – but why?

NFTs on TV: LG Art Lab is only available in the US for now

Where can this be used? The new LG Art Lab platform is available now in the US on the company’s TVs running webOS 5.0 or later. One can access it directly from the home screen and buy, sell or simply view digital artworks. In the future, however, the system should also be available in other countries.

The “LG Art Lab Drops” function is also integrated. You will receive a notification if your favorite artist publishes a new work of art that you absolutely want to buy. There is a timer that will let you know when the NFT offer will expire.

Why is LG equipping its televisions with it? LG states in its press release that LG TVs are perfect for showing NFTs on a big screen (via lgnewsroom.com). As LG explains:

Delivering superb picture quality and offering multiple large screens to choose from, LG’s state-of-the-art TVs are the perfect medium for showcasing one’s NFT collection.

Incidentally, to launch the new program, they teamed up with the sculptor Barry X Ball. You can purchase the first NFT works directly from the new store on an LG television. Other artists will follow in the future.

The harsh criticism of NFTs in gaming is unfair – they are more than micro-transactions

NFTs are highly controversial among gamers

What’s the problem with NFTs? Such digital works of art are highly controversial among gamers. Many consider these small pictures to be dangerous speculation where millions of euros could be lost. There are often enough games that sell NFTs as game content, but then suddenly have to close. Back then, players had invested in a racing game and bought NFT cars. But the project was canceled and users lost a lot of money or had to settle for replacement NFTs.

What do you think of the new feature and promotion? Do you think that’s overkill or do you think it’s an important step to integrate NFTs into mainstream society?

More news about NFTs: Many multiplayer games today also rely on NFTs. For example, a game relies on properties that you can purchase as NFT. Behind the game idea is none other than the well-known game developer Peter Molyneux, which you may still know from some big games:

New multiplayer game offers NFT property for 800,000 euros, will be sold directly
