The first players in New World have already reached the maximum level of 60. You start so slowly into the endgame of the MMO. But what does New World actually offer there? How will you pass the time later? We at MeinMMO will tell you.
The way to level 60 can take some time. There are a variety of ways to level up, such as quests, dungeons, events or PvP. In this article, we look at what exactly happens after level 60.
This article was originally published in October 2021 and was last updated on March 27, 2023.
Get the perfect gear
A lot of New World revolves around the gear grind. This takes place in several stages:
In order to get the perfect equipment, you have to plan a few hundred hours. If you also want to run mutations in the dungeons later, you need several perfect equipment sets.
How do I find the perfect gear? The perfect gear is 600 Armor, Legendary, and stats that perfectly match your weapons and playstyle. Legendary gear can be obtained in a variety of ways, including crafting. However, this requires that you level up your professions.
Buying it directly from the trading post is a bit easier. But first you have to farm gold.
There are also random drops, for example in endgame dungeons, or certain quests from which you get legendary weapons. For the Legendary Weapons quest, you must first get the respective weapon mastery to level 20, complete some pre-quests and then defeat elite opponents and open chests in the corresponding area.
How do I level the competency? Competence is a value that starts at 500 and determines your armor value. Because from level 60, the mean value is formed between your armor value and competence. For example, if you buy a perfect cleaver at 600 armor but still have 500 proficiency, the weapon will scale down to 550 armor.
You level competence by using plasters. You can earn casts for dungeons, PvP, crafting beyond level 200 and some other activities. You can find out more about the system here: New World: This is how Gypsum works and this is how you level up your skills the fastest.
How do I get my gear from 600 to 625? For this you have to use Shadow Shards. You can also get these through various activities and by using plaster on items that already have a competence of 625.
We have also made our own guide to the shadow shards:

Maximize life skills
What does New World offer in Life Skills? New World offers 17 different crafting skills that you can level up to level 200 to unlock all recipes. After that, you can go even further to get additional rewards.
Just getting one of the gathering skills like lumberjacking or mining to the maximum level should cost between 20 and 60 hours of play. So you can keep yourself busy for at least 120 hours with the gathering skills, with fishing taking up most of the time.
If you then want to bring all life skills to the maximum level, you will have to invest a lot of gold, especially in the manufacturing professions, or farm rare materials in painstaking detail work.
Here alone there is already a huge potential to spend hundreds of hours in New World.
Explore the world and level areas
What is there to discover? Admittedly, the world of New World is on the small side compared to many other MMOs. But the game offers many “points of interest”, places that you can discover and where small challenges such as bosses or elite mobs often await you.
In addition, New World offers a number of side quests that you have to find first. You can use these to earn materials, but also useful equipment.
Through area reputation, New World has a system that makes it worth visiting the low-level areas later on. Because you can save a lot of money in the production or when selling in the trading post. Increasing the storage capacity also plays an important role.

Play and enjoy Outpost Rush
What is outpost rush? Outpost Rush is a so-called PvEvP mode in which players not only fight against other players but also against the environment. Two teams of 20 players compete against each other and try to take outposts from each other.
The goal is to reach 1,000 points. However, there are different ways and strategies to do this:
Why should you play it? Outpost Rush is a very enjoyable PvP mode and a nice diversion from New World’s wars over territories. Unfortunately, only level 60 players can participate in this mode.
Still, it’s a lot of fun and brings some useful rewards at the end.
The developer’s introduction video gives you an insight into the mode:
experience invasions
What are invasions? The invasions are the counterpart to the wars for fortresses only in PvE mode. Periodically, the Corrupted will attack a fortress and attempt to conquer it in waves.
If the PvE enemies succeed, then there are penalties for the settlement. If you defend successfully, there is gold and useful loot as a reward.
However, the invasions can also only be entered by 50 players. The controlling guild determines 10 of them, while the other 40 players are drawn at random from those who have registered.
You can read more about invasions here: New World: Invasions are the pinnacle of PvE events – how they work.
Do mutations, speed runs, or low player runs in dungeons
How do dungeons work in New World? New World currently offers you 9 expeditions that you can complete with a group of 3 to 5 players.
You can get a first insight into the dungeons and the concept behind them in a video by the developers:
What can you do in the endgame? In addition to the fact that some dungeons can only be played in the endgame, it is common for MMOs that players try to complete them as quickly as possible or with as few players as possible. There are now even rankings for just such speed runs.
In January 2022, New World also added the mutations. These are 10 additional levels of difficulty that limit you with additional obstacles and are a great challenge, especially at level 10.

Fight for territories in wars
What are wars? The wars are at the heart of the New World endgame. Here two factions, each with 50 players, fight for control of a territory on the server.
In order to start a war, the attacking faction must first gain influence in the specific area. They can attack the forts in the open world, for example. If there is enough influence, a war can be declared. When exactly this takes place, however, can be determined in advance by the defending faction.
When the time of war is reached, the attackers try to storm the defenders’ fortress. To do this, it is first necessary to conquer conquest points outside of the fortress before the gates can be destroyed and the interior can be conquered.
The defenders, in turn, can use siege weapons to try to keep the points neutral and protect the gates.
A war lasts 30 minutes. If the attackers don’t manage to conquer the fortress in this time, it remains in the possession of the defenders.
If you want to watch such a war, here is a good video about it:
Why are the wars so important? The owners of a territory determine the expansion of the respective settlement and can also charge fees for crafting, trading and renting the houses. So whoever controls a territory has full control there.
There are currently 11 areas that companies can control. There will be a constant struggle between factions for these areas. This is exactly what makes endgame wars so interesting.
Bonus tip: the journey is the reward
In this overview, we explained to you that players can do anything in the endgame. But New World is not the classic MMO in which you should quickly rush to the max level.
The game world offers many interesting and pretty landscapes, life skills can be grinded before level 60 and you can even take part in wars by joining a faction (around level 13).
New World invites you to take your time and enjoy the game. This overview is only intended to give you a glimpse of what awaits you in the endgame.
